Linderhoff Castle
never achieved the grandeur of Schloss Neuschwanstein or Ludgwig
II's plans to make it Germany's Versailles. The "castle" was
built in phases. The original
building was used as a hunting lodge that was slowly upgraded and
augmented to create the luxurious buildings and grounds that can be
seen today. Although the buildings and interior decorations
are beautiful, it is the setting and its gardens than make Linderhoff Castle a special place.
