Andorra is a pleasant country that offers the tourist scenic beauty, good hiking, solitude, and some lively holiday celebrations, if you are in the country at the right time.

Andorra is not the place for  museum aficionados or anyone looking for the architectural treasures of Europe.  Instead, the country is a good destination for those interested in outdoor activities, as its landscape provides good quality hiking in the summer and skiing in the winter.

• Andorra is a rural, mountainous country wedged between Spain and France that has limited cultural attractions.  Known more as a destination for shopping than vacation, Andorra can be a pleasant place to spend an overnight. To be honest, most visitors are "just passing through" on their way to vacations in France or Spain.

  • You might want to avoid Andorra's roads on weekends during the summer as the narrow roads near the Capital can be very crowded.

• Andorra is developing a ski industry for winter sports that is starting to gain some popularity. Of course, these same mountains  make Andorra a good location for summer hiking. 

• Andorra La Vella

   

  • Andorra La Vella is the capital and main city of Andorra.  It is attractive to those who like shopping and unattractive to those who prefer the quiet of the countryside.  Andorra La Vella offers good quality hotels and restaurants.

   

  
  

• Andorra has a number of attractive Romanesque churches that are usually well displayed against the country's beautiful scenery.  The country should not be considered and "end-destination", as it is more reasonably considered as a stop of the way between Spain and France.
  

• El Serrat, Soldeau, Encamp, Les Escaldes and Sant Julià de Lòria offer fine examples of small villages in bucolic countryside.  You will occasionally discover delightful scenes, historic churches and  sites marking  historic contributors to the country's history.
